Ficus

I found 3 big ficus in a corner of a garden centre. They had been neglected and their roots were growing out of the pots. They were at least 3 metres tall. The owner wanted to get rid of them and gave them to me for 10 euro each. She had a shock when I arrived with a saw and cut off all the branches.
One didn't survive. I'm training one as a bunyan style. This is the other one after 3 years of training.

As far as the shock situation?i belived it happened to all of us...As far as the Ficus?With the material you have you are doing just fine Christo,and i am sure as the years pass things will get better.

I like it. do you defoliate your ficus?

They are vigorous trees and they need frequent defoliation.
Not my favourite either Stavros but I'm rather opportunistic as far as bonsai are concerned and if I come across any tree with bonsai potential I will have a go and see what happens.

I would suggest that you try to develop aerial roots. I am sure these will add to your design.
