Bonsai in a coffee shop
The first ever bonsai shown to public in Cyprus.
Not a big deal but an important milestone for the Cyprus small bonsai community. The opportunity came up when the owner of a traditional coffee shop in the old city of Nicosia kindly asked me if I could provide for display purposes one of my bonsai. The positive answer came instantly. It was a great opportunity to promote the art of bonsai in our small island. Unfortunately in Cyprus this great art has only a few followers and to spread the word is always a very hard task.
The said coffee shop is a meeting place of young urban people of ages ranging from 20 to 35 years old. I can say that is not rare either to see people of older ages enjoying a cup of coffee to one of their tables.
At night the place transform its self to a lounge bar that customers enjoy a glass of good wine or a couple of beers.
My bonsai an olea europaea under training for 3 years with very young branches is the honor guest for this weekend.
I wish that the interesting of the customers will be such that more bonsai will follow.

Poetry night
The coffee shop was the host of a night reading. A young beautiful girl was reading poetry under the escort of another equal attractive girl playing the musical instrument that we the Greeks call “Cretan Lyra” ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ).
The crowd showed a great interesting about the reading (not my cup of tea) and probably a few moments of this glory went to my proud olive.
The proud olive was the inspirational background. Is this event the marriage of poetry and bonsai? Can bonsai be the inspiration of future poetry themes? Who knows!

A Greek music Night
A mixing of cultures. From far East to West. From North Pacific Ocean to Mediterranean sea. From Bonsai to bouzouki!
Play bouzouki, Play bouzouki tonight…. ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ) and the “gelakaki pou foris” ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] )
I wish that this Modern cosmopolitan thinking of cultures mixing will bring more followers to the art of bonsai!
