Greg's deadwood refinement technique
This is a simple technique to refine the deadwood using just a pyrography tool.
Pyrography as a term means "writing with fire", from the Greek pur (fire) and graphos (writing).
Pyrography is the art of burning wood surfaces with a headed object in order decorate it.
Using Pyrography tool a large range of wood grain shapes, depths, shades and tones can be achived
It can be practiced using specialized modern pyrography tools as the one shown on last photo. Prices for a such tool ranges from 15-30 Euro. More sophisticated tools with heat control can range up to 100 Euro.
A small sample of such a work can be seen below

Re: Greg's deadwood refinement technique
As with all new techniques you need practice to master it and get the result you want....it seems that pyrography can indeed be a part of that whole process of carving. For a first try outcome looks good even though everything looks too symetric and therefore untural, however in time i am sure the result will be much better.

Re: Greg's deadwood refinement technique
it looks very good but at some points it is a bit regular….i would prefer a more irregular pattern.
nevertheless, i like it.
