Mainly we use aluminium and i know that Stavros use some copper wire as well....For starting i would sugest aluminium,its much more easier to use,to bend.

You can buy aluuminum wire from any online bonsai shop. The price is is usually 10-15 euro for a roll of 500gr. You may need different wire diameters ranging from 1-5mm (depends from what you have to wire).
Dont try to use any other alternative cheap wire, its useless.
