Today was a happy day as the big olive tree collected in May 2011 ( may 21st), showed signs of life

As i have repeatedly stated, the only thing i do differently this year compared to last year, is the use of Rhizotonic solution for watering, every few days. I always use the same basic substrate, which consists of 80-85% inorganic, mainy terramol 3-6mm, and the rest is organic, sphagnum peat moss 15-20%. This year, I also started using calcified seaweed to rectify the substrate's tendency for acidity.
I expect that by springtime next year the tree will be full of new branches....

Very good results Stavro,so soon a?as i was saying to Gregoris.besides the subtrate we are using this year with our yamadories i used "mycoriza fungi",and it seems that i have much better results than Greg,or lets put it this way,my trees reacted much faster.As we are still young as far as yamadoring is concerned,these things we must have in mind...May be rizotronic,and mycoriza work,what is your opinion?

to be honest with you i am not convinced that mycorrhiza products can benefit the tree in any way...... I cannot see how, on a tree that is struggling to create new root system, mycorrhizae can be of any benefit...There are thousands of species and it is not possible to have the "right" ones for each species....
I believe that good horticultural practice is the most important thing, along with proper collecting techniques. Even in this case, some trees respond better than others. Not all trees react the same, even same species/subspecies...

I have used mycorrhiza products for 2 years (maybe not long enough) on repotted trees and i cannot say with authority that i have seen any results out of the ordinary.... I never use rooting hormone around roots that are cut during repotting or on yamadori roots on potting.
What i do though is to wash away all mountain soil, and replace it with modern substrate as stated above.

As i have repeatedly said, the only thing i have done differently this year is the Rhizotonic....and to my surprise, trees responded much faster with growth......is it the rhizotonic?? is it the experience we gain every year?? is it luck?? is it the way i treat them?? is it all the above?? i do not know, but if it works, i will just keep doing it.....
