It's quite amazing how some trees manage to grow back from stumps.What kind of tree are they ?.

the trees are Eucalyptus, were introduced into Cyprus by the British and planted next to river sides in order to drain the malarial swamps to deprive the malaria carrying Anopheles mosquito of its habitat.
