Our collecting period used to start in mid autumn and lasted until early spring
A couple of weeks ago, the trio ( Savvas, Greg, Myself), after a few months of no real action, we decided that it was about time to start a bit earlier...... We found a garden that was going through renovation, and we were given permission by the owner to lift all the trees....From all the trees in the garden, the ones that caught our attention was 3 myrtus communis.
After a couple of hours of digging, we managed to lift the trees. One of them was removed with very little root, and one of them was split in 3 pieces.
Here are the pictures immediately after the collection

You have my best wishes guys!
My early try of lifting up a yamadori from my garden (during September) proved to be a failure, due to the high temperatures.
Unfortunately my lack of patience cost me 2 nice little trees.
So for the next ones that I plan to lift, I will wait until the weather becomes really cold.

My only piece of advice is that if you are planning to lift trees, make sure that for the following 6-8 weeks the temperatures will not be on the extreme (too hot or too warm) because the roots grow in the range (roughly) of 18-28 degrees Celcius. The fresh rootlets can freeze or dry very easily so caution is necessary.
In our case, the temperatures during midday may reach 30-32 degrees celcius. If you keep the trees in a shady and rather humid environment, then there is no problem.

I'll wait for the end of October. In any case I will ask for further advice at that time!
Remember to update the pics of the myrtles in a few months in order to for us to see the development of the trees.

Both are fine, the growth was more than expected. Even the one with almost no roots. The one with no roots kept for more than a month in a black bag and then removed.
I have to take some photos to show.
How about yours?
