The tree i am presenting, was collected in late autumn 2010. It was not exactly collected with the strict meaning of the word, but rather pulled off the ground with a 4X4... Smile Smile Smile It was not our intention to do it....
The tree was on a steep slope, about 3-4 metres higher from the road and as we were trying to figure out how to tie it up with a rope, Greg was already next to it trying to dig it out...!!! He tied the rope around it and i tried to pull it gently while he was digging around the roots....Instead, most of the root remained in its original position, while the rest broke off....

I decided to give it a try, even though very few roots were present. It was planted in 100% baked clay, and no special treatment was given other than watering and occasional use of Rhizotonic.
The tree is full of new leaves and looks well!!

What do you think???

I love the base on this tree and it will make a superb raft given time. I would consider cutting the straight branches off and styling from the shoots though as the twisty and graggy raft doesn't suit the straight and uninteresting trunks.

it is time to do something about this.
This weekend i am going to cut off the straight /uninteresting trunks and see what is possible to do with the shoots that have obviously become thicker. Pics to follow Smile
